Woman Can’t Take Emotional Support Hamster On Flight So Flushes It Down Toilet
A woman flushed her emotional support hamster down an airport toilet after security told her she couldn’t fly with it.
Spirit Airlines rejected Belen Aldecosea’s little friend Pebbles at Baltimore Airport last November after telling her twice she could bring him.
Belen describes the moment she introduced poor Pebbles to his maker.
I didn’t have any other options. She was scared. I was scared. It was horrifying trying to put her in the toilet.
I was emotional. I was crying. I sat there for a good 10 minutes crying in the stall.
Belen who was flying back to her home in Miami, got Pebbles after a cancer scare in 2017.
Spirit Airlines were shown a doctor’s letter certifying the little fella as a comfort animal.
They told her it was fine. It was only when Belen attempted to check in that an employee came bolting after to break the bad news that Pebbles couldn’t fly and ultimately lead to the hamster’s untimely and dignified passing.
Although no end for a hamster, Belen insisted she checked car hires and bus options before laying waste to her pet.
Belen alleges it was an airline representative that suggested Pebble’s exit plan, a claim Spirit has denied.
Now Belen is considering taking out a lawsuit against the airline for conflicting instructions.
Her attorney told the Miami Herald:
This wasn’t a giant peacock that could pose a danger to other passengers. This was a tiny cute harmless hamster that could fit in the palm of her hand.
If you’re wandering how a giant peacock fits into all this then you probably missed the story in January about a woman who was denied a seat on her flight for her emotional support peacock.
A spokesman for Spirit said:
To be clear, at no point did any of our agents suggest this guest (or any other for that matter) should flush or otherwise injure an animal.
God damn, we’ll have to see where this one goes. RIP, buddy.
