A pit bull puppy is being hailed as a hero after she saved a baby and her family from a nearby fire in their home.

On Saturday, June 3, Sasha, the 8-month-year-old family pit bull, alerted the Chaichanhda family, who were all fast asleep, that a dangerous fire was spreading in their house in Stockton, California.

Sasha got the family’s attention after barking and banging on the door.

When Nana Chaichanhda heard Sasha’s incessant, she got out of bed and opened the door to see what had the family dog so riled up. But before she could even comprehend the fact her cousin’s building in her fourplex was in flames, Sasha pushed through the door and ran into the room of her 7-month-old daughter Masailah.

Speaking to KCRA Nana says:

She [Sasha] had already had my baby by the diaper and was dragging her off the bed.

While Sasha’s efforts are truly heroic Nana says it doesn’t surprise her, she and Masailah have an instantaneous, even doing as far as to bathe together.

According to the New York Post her cousin wasn’t at home at the time of the fire, thanks to Sasha’s heroism no one was hurt in the blaze. Furthermore, Chaichanhda usually doesn’t keep the dog outside at night, but considering her and Masailah’s lucky escape she’s happy she did.

Normally, Chaichanhda doesn’t keep the dog outside at night, but she’s happy that she did on this particular occasion.

Speaking to Fox 40, Nana states:

I owe her everything. If it wasn’t for her, I would have still been in bed and things could have taken a worse turn<./blockquote>

Nana and her family are currently staying with a family member after the fire had spread to her housing unit. A GoFundMe page has been setup by her sister, Christine White.
