Man Vows to A

The world is full of amazing people, each of us is setting off on our own little long-term goals. We all want to leave our mark on the world, to be remembered for something other than the basics. Well, Rodney Smith might just be the perfect example of someone doing that. The Huntsville, Alabama man was driving home one day when he saw a guy having a hard time mowing the lawn.

He stopped off to help the guy, and in a single moment created a movement of togetherness, kindness and personal development. This mall yet amazing act of kindness helped to begin the early stages of a movement that spread from Alabama right through the United States, Canada, and even the United Kingdom!

Rodney began to help people who didn’t have the time or physical ability to mow their own lawn. Over time, he helped out many elderly people, disabled people, and single parents. Before long, he came up with the Raising Men Lawn Care Service: a system that gets young men out and about in their local communities helping out.

60 kids signed up before long, and it kept growing. Working for free, they meet a lot of people throughout their day and help to bring a touch of community and togetherness into the households of so many people. It’s a truly touching experience, and one that should be 100% applauded for its ingenuity.

Then he started up what is known as the 50-yard challenge: each volunteer was to mow 50 lawns for free. The response was a lot more than he would have expected, and before long the movement was well on the way to building up in size and in scale.

The start of something special.
